One Day of My Life

 

    We had assignments due on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  All these programs are very familiar to me since we use them all in the military.  I want to say that most business will have to be familiar using these programs.

Using Microsoft Word

            Microsoft word is a word processor program is a program I use daily.  “A word processor is a common computer application for creating formatted text” (Vahid & Lysecky, 2019, 5.1). The ability to type and use spell check to make sure you send good emails, reports, papers, and even using it to organize your schedule.  The program is very self-explanatory and user friendly.  There are items on this program where you can attach items like graphs, pictures, and even change the layout you use.  In the military there are lots of memos that we type daily.  You can use bold text to highlight area, you are able to highlight section to remember, and you can use different alignments to set margins on word.  Hundreds of different functions that this word processor can do.

Using Microsoft Excel

            The Microsoft Excel program is a program that allows you to create a spreadsheet.  “A spreadsheet contains cells organized into columns labeled A, B, ... and rows labeled 1, 2, ...; a spreadsheet user can type data in each cell” (Vahid & Lysecky, 2019, 5.2).  I work with different types of ammunition for the military.  I use this to track my inventory and build reports on expenditures and use this to track how much resupply I need.  Excel can organize what you want to track from inventory, schedules, appointments, tasks, and even your finances if you wanted too.  The multiple functions that this program can do will help you build a visual graph on what you need.  You can build a master spreadsheet and create formulas on multiple workbooks that can update and tie into the master.  The useability of this program and the many functions it can do, is what makes this program my go to at work.

Using Microsoft PowerPoint

            This program is great for doing presentations and briefings.  PowerPoint can create a slide show that you can present to a massive group.  This program you can create a master slide where all the general information on each slide will stay the same.  You can create graphs, animation, word art, and even attach a spreadsheet if necessary.  I use this program when I must brief ammunition activities to our command. 

            Most of these programs or apps I do use daily.  Since the military went digital most of our work has been based of Microsoft products.  Key features for must business companies are to have all your employees familiar with Microsoft.  The ability it has to make your job easier is a key to success.
